Spring, Summer, Autumn or Winter?

What would you chose?
What would you chose?

The one thing that the UK has is weather! In all its glorious forms but these days the time of year doesn't guarantee the weather your day will bring. so perhaps you have more to think about.......

This really can be a pain when you dream of waking up to warm sunshine and blue skies only to find it is a rainy cool summer's day. It is even more frustrating when the day or week before has been glorious. Of course, it can go the other way too. I remember a day in June where it was so hot, the groom and his attendants really struggled in top hat and tails, it really isn't a good look to start removing ties and jackets! The guests were all using anything that could work as a fan and the photographs seemed to last forever!

Spring arrives and with it the promise of a long warm summer ahead. The daffodils and tulips are filling the world around us with colour which is so welcoming after the grey of winter. For spring brides, the planning throughout the winter is suddenly coming to fruition and for their guests, they have something to plan and look forward too. No wonder, this is such a popular time of year. It is the promise of new beginnings, which couldn't be more perfect for the start of your new lives together. Of course, It can also be a challenging time as venues and suppliers are busy busy busy and planning your wedding well in advance is recommended.

Summer arrives and your idea of a stunning off the shoulder dress along with your bridesmaids is a wonderful thought. The freedom summer brings when we can shed our cardigans and coats and freely enjoy being outside or in. We feel more confident at this time of year to plan outside elements to our wedding and the choice of flowers are at their best and most colourful. Many venues have rooms which cascade through large doors into garden areas, perfect if you are a family friendly wedding with children needing to run off their energy. Pre reception drinks mulling in the warmth is a very calming and relaxing way to chat about the service and for guests to meet one another. Some may have not met up for a long time, work colleagues that had moved on, weddings are incredibly happy events for social interaction. Evening receptions also benefit from the longer lighter nights and warmer temperatures.

Autumn arrives and with it come the changing colours of the trees foliage. There is still the chance through September and October for warm days despite cooler evenings. Many stores and suppliers stock autumnal decorations these days which really can add to the decor of your wedding and potentially reduce the floral costs! Both complimenting the other.

Winter is a less popular time of year, with the dark nights and focus on Christmas in just a few weeks, however if you wish to incorporate a christmas theme, then it is perfect. A Boxing Day wedding, in the depth of winter, couldn't have been more magical. The bride wore her stunning dress with a velvet green cape whilst her attendants complimented her look. It was the most beautiful image and of course, the bride ensured she stayed as warm as toast for all her photographs!

Of course, if warmth is the key to the success of your wedding, you can always go overseas...............
